Once you’re in the desktop app, it’s time to start a new project. Click on the “+ Create New” button. You’ll be prompted to select the type of project you want to create. For the purpose of this tutorial, we’ll click “blank canvas.”

If you’re on the mobile app, the process is the same. Tap on “New Project.” You’ll need to grant the app access to your photo gallery, so be sure to do that before you start your project. Don’t worry. There will be a pop-up prompting you to do this.

3- Select Your Video Clips

Next, you’ll need to select the clips you want to add a transition to. If you’re in the desktop app, you’ll need to upload the videos to CapCut.

If you find that you can only upload one video at a time, click the “Upload” button on the side of the screen. Once the second (or third, fourth, fifth, etc.) clips are uploaded, be sure to put them in the correct order at the bottom of the project screen. Simply click the clip and then drag and drop it into its correct place in the video.

If you’re on the mobile app, just tap the video clips you want to use for your project. Make sure to tap the clips in order of the final edit. This will put your clips in the correct order for the project.

4- Go to the End of the First Clip and Tap the “|” Icon

Depending on which version of the app you’re using, either the desktop version or the mobile app, this part of the process will look a tad different.

On the desktop, to add transitions in CapCut, hover over the beginning of the second video. You’ll see a pop-up that says, “Add transitions.” When it appears, click the button.

On the mobile app, to add transitions in CapCut, you’ll need to tap the “|” icon between video clips.

With the final edits in place, it’s time to export your video. On the desktop, click the “export” button.
